Where have all the sparrows gone?
The increase in the population and hence the pollution has contributed to the change in the ecosystem which in turn has lead to sparrows close to becoming extinct. Lifestyle of us humans has changed overtime. The new buildings which have no nicks and corners for the sparrows to make their nests are not suitable for the sparrows to nest in. The diminishing number of gardens in the city, increase in the pigeon, crows population have almost brought them to the verge of extinction in the cities..
In an attempt to revive the habitat of sparrows, a hands on workshop was conducted in the school premises by Mr.Rakesh Khatri, an eminent environmentalist dedicated to groom eco warriors, under the British Council ISA project “Go Green” for class V on 18.07.2019. During the workshop, the students were given demonstration of nest building and were also given Nest Building Kits , with which they build their own nests. The excitement and enthusiasm of the students was boundless. The students infact commented that how difficult it must be for the small birds to create such an intricate structure which we without any thought just destroy in seconds.
